Experience Castleton Special Finest Tippy Gold Loose Leaf Tea in Premium 50g Formats

The Castleton Special Finest Tippy Gold loose leaf tea presents a remarkable sensory experience from the moment you open the pouch or tin, releasing delicate floral aromatics with subtle honey undertones. In practice, users find that this SFTGFOP (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) grade tea produces a bright amber liquor with exceptional clarity when steeped at 85-90°C for 3-4 minutes. The whole leaf orthodox processing preserves the integrity of each tea leaf, allowing the golden tips—hand-picked first flush or second flush buds—to unfurl gracefully during infusion. The 50g portion size proves ideal for personal exploration or gifting, maintaining peak freshness when stored in the airtight packaging provided.

Heritage Craftsmanship from Darjeeling's Legendary Castleton Estate

Castleton estate holds a distinguished position among Darjeeling tea gardens, recognized internationally for producing some of the finest examples of Himalayan-grown black tea since the 19th century. This SFTGFOP designation represents the highest grade in the orthodox tea classification system, indicating superior leaf selection with an abundance of golden tips that contribute natural sweetness and complexity. The estate's location at elevations between 3,000-6,000 feet in the Darjeeling district provides the unique terroir—cool mountain air, mineral-rich soil, and seasonal mist—that develops the prized muscatel flavor profile characteristic of premium Darjeeling teas. Each batch undergoes meticulous hand-plucking and traditional withering, rolling, oxidation, and firing processes that preserve the tea's nuanced character and antioxidant properties.

Frequently Asked Questions About Castleton Finest Tippy Gold Tea

What makes SFTGFOP grade tea different from standard Darjeeling?
SFTGFOP represents the highest orthodox tea grading, featuring carefully selected whole leaves with abundant golden tips—the unopened buds that contribute natural sweetness, complexity, and a refined muscatel character not found in lower grades.

How should I store this 50g tea to maintain freshness?
Keep the pouch or tin sealed tightly in a cool, dark, dry location away from strong odors, moisture, and direct sunlight. Properly stored, this whole leaf tea maintains optimal flavor for 12-18 months, though finest quality is experienced within the first 6 months of opening.

Can this tea be re-steeped for multiple infusions?
Yes, the whole leaf orthodox processing allows for 2-3 quality infusions from the same leaves. Increase steeping time by 30-60 seconds for each subsequent infusion to maintain flavor strength, revealing evolving flavor notes with each brewing.

The flavor is awesome, as well as the aroma. Great value for the price! 1 teabag holds out for 2 mugs of tea. I can't drink any more than 2 mugs nowadays. So it might even hold up for 3. Some people complained about the bags tearing. I haven't had 1 bag tear yet. I just carefully peel the label & string from the bag. No problem. The pyramid bags let the leaves fully bloom while steeping. All in all I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase of Oolong tea.
